Methodology

Novel Nuance keeps two parallel rankings:

  • New & Fancy: favor recent discoveries, freshness, and cross-source surprise.
  • Proven & Rising: favor authority, staying power, and renewed momentum.

The implementation borrows four product patterns:

  • Exploding Topics: use multiple weak signals instead of one viral spike.
  • Futurepedia: keep item pages explainable instead of dumping raw links.
  • LibHunt: score developer tools with context, not stars alone.
  • Docusaurus: ship the result as browsable docs, not just raw JSON.

The pipeline stores daily observations, preserves first-seen dates, and recalculates scores from rolling windows so the rankings can refresh incrementally.
